Arcsa sanitary enforcement in Ecuador

Overview

The National Agency for Regulation, Control and Sanitary Surveillance (Arcsa) has conducted several enforcement actions against businesses in Ecuador due to sanitary violations.

In Guayaquil, Arcsa closed a pharmacy in the La Alborada sector after an inspection revealed the unauthorized administration of injections and intravenous fluids. Inspectors also found 40 irregular products, including expired medications and medical samples being sold to the public, alongside significant hygiene failures.

In Cuenca, authorities closed two cosmetic distributors following the discovery of 7,436 products with sanitary irregularities. In the Bellavista parish, over 7,000 items were immobilized due to issues such as hair dyes being marketed under incorrect sanitary notifications and poor storage conditions. In the El Batán parish, 235 items were seized because of expired notifications and labeling that did not match the contents of skin gels.
