Cuenca promotes historical heritage through CUCLÉS cycling event

The eighth edition of CUCLÉS, a self-sufficient cycle tourism initiative, was held from September 11 to 13, connecting Madrid and Cuenca. Organized by the Asociación Cultural CuenCANP, the event aims to promote the historical 'Camino de la Orden de Santiago' and highlight the cultural and natural heritage of the region.

Participants followed an itinerary based on the 2019 book ‘Camino de la Orden de Santiago. Entre Uclés y Cuenca’, which traces the routes used by the Order of Santiago after they were granted a priory in 1174. The initiative seeks to transform these medieval historical paths into modern sporting and tourism opportunities.

Cuenca, a UNESCO World Heritage site, remains a central destination for such activities due to its unique geography, situated on a rocky spur between the Júcar and Huécar rivers. The city's historic district is characterized by its steep streets and viewpoints overlooking the river gorges.
