Cuiabá and Paulista municipalities start waste‑removal drives to curb disease and flooding

In Cuiabá, the municipal service Limpurb continued its "Cata‑treco" operation from 22 to 27 June, offering free collection of unused furniture and household items in 14 neighbourhoods. Residents were asked to place items at their homes before 7 a.m. each day. The program aims to improve urban cleanliness, eliminate illegal dumping sites and reduce mosquito‑borne diseases such as dengue.

In Paulista, the city government organized a clean‑up mutirão on 20 June, clearing debris from coastal neighbourhoods and a stretch of the PE‑22 highway. The effort, led by the Secretary of Public Works, is intended to improve drainage ahead of the rainy season and lower flood risk. Additional clean‑up actions are planned for several other districts in the coming days.
