Virginia Fonseca ordered to remove illegal betting ads in Brazil

The Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal e dos Territórios (TJDFT) issued a preliminary injunction ordering influencer Virginia Fonseca to delete all betting‑related advertisements she posted in partnership with the online gambling platform Blaze. The judge, Renato Rodovalho Scussel, gave her 48 hours to remove the content and barred any future posts that promise fixed profits, extra income, investment returns, or present betting as a solution to financial problems.

Violations will attract a fine of R$ 100 000 per breach, potentially rising to R$ 2 million for repeated non‑compliance. The Ministry of Public Prosecutor of the Federal District (MPDFT) has also filed a civil public action seeking R$ 120 million in collective moral damages against Fonseca and Blaze for alleged abusive advertising practices. The court emphasized that any remaining posts must be clearly labelled as advertising, even when embedded in personal or travel content.
