Cuiabá City Council approves 30-year land rights for Shopping Popular
The Cuiabá City Council has unanimously approved a bill proposed by Mayor Abilio Brunini to grant the Shopping Popular Association the real right of surface for the commercial center's area for 30 years. The measure, which received 24 votes in favor and none against, aims to provide legal security for the reconstruction and administration of the shopping center following a fire on July 15, 2024, that destroyed the original structure.
Under the new legislation, the Association will be responsible for managing the enterprise and maintaining the Dom Aquino Complex, including the Manoel Soares de Campos Sports Complex. Additionally, the law mandates the reservation of at least 100 square meters for a Senai Professional Education Center or other public interest social equipment. The Cuiabá City Hall will maintain permanent oversight of the fulfillment of these obligations.
