Sanesul expands sewage coverage in southern Mato Grosso do Sul

Sewage coverage in southern Mato Grosso do Sul has reached an average of 81.12% as of September, according to data from Sanesul. Several municipalities in the region are nearing or have already exceeded the 90% target established by the new national sanitation legal framework for 2033.

Dourados has surpassed the national goal with 92.05% coverage. Other high-performing cities include Japorã at 99%, Nova Andradina at 98.26%, and Itaquiraí at 97.12%. The expansion is driven by state government investments and a public-private partnership with Ambiental MS Pantanal.

The initiative is part of Governor Eduardo Riedel’s priority to accelerate national sanitation goals, which aim for 99% potable water access and 90% sewage treatment across Brazil by 2033.
