Cuiabá mayor and Energisa agree on stricter tree‑pruning protocols

The municipal government of Cuiabá held a meeting on 24 June with representatives of the electricity concessionaire Energisa to review and improve the procedures for pruning trees near power‑line infrastructure. Attendees included Mayor Abílio Brunini, the secretaries of Environment, Public Order, Economy and Communication, the director‑general of the city sanitation agency Limpurb, and technical staff from Energisa.

Energisa reported that it carries out more than a thousand tree prunings daily across the state as part of preventive maintenance to keep the electricity supply continuous. The mayor stressed the need for actions that are planned, transparent and aligned with environmental preservation, noting that residents often mistake utility work for municipal activity. Both parties committed to adopt stricter authorization criteria, improve oversight, and accelerate the re‑ordering of wiring after each intervention. A new technical cooperation framework will be established to examine advanced arboreal‑management techniques, expand inspections and streamline service‑approval flows.

The initiative aims to reduce environmental impact, increase operational efficiency of tree‑pruning work, and provide greater safety, organization and transparency for Cuiabá’s population. The mayor summed up the goal: “The development of the city must go hand‑in‑hand with environmental preservation.”
