Cuiabá Mayor Abilio Brunini Defends Agro Sector and Promotes Lambadão at 58th Expoagro

During the opening of the 58th Expoagro in Cuiabá, mayor Abílio Brunini praised the agribusiness sector as a primary source of municipal revenue and accused several state deputies of receiving financial support from the same industry. He said, “Boa parte da receita do município de Cuiabá vem da onde? Do agro… É brincadeira?” while urging continued public investment in agriculture.

The same event also featured a cultural spotlight on the traditional “lambadão raiz.” Three local bands – Amigos Banda Show, Os Maninhos and Banda Di Rocha – performed on July 12, drawing praise from audience members such as Daiana Martins, who said, “Sou roqueira e gosto de lambadão,” and from musicians like vocalist Carlos Bonfim, who called the appearance “uma oportunidade muito importante para mostrarmos o nosso lambadão raiz para todo o Mato Grosso e também para o Brasil.” Municipal cultural officials highlighted the performances as part of the city’s policy to promote regional culture alongside the agricultural showcase.
