Brazilian municipalities offer tax debt discounts
Various Brazilian municipalities and states are implementing tax regularization programs to facilitate the settlement of outstanding debts. These initiatives often coincide with the III National Tax Regularization Week, promoted by the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
In Campo Grande, the ‘Regulariza CG’ program offers up to 90% discounts on interest and fines for lump-sum payments, with installment options available for up to 16 months. Similarly, Olinda’s Refis 2026 provides up to 100% discounts on interest and fines for cash payments, aiming to prepare taxpayers for upcoming national tax system transitions. Primavera do Leste’s ‘Regulariza PVA’ also offers significant reductions, including 100% off interest for immediate settlements.
In Cuiabá, the partnership between the municipal government and the judiciary aims to reduce litigation through consensual solutions. In the state of Bahia, taxpayers can access up to 95% discounts on interest and fines, while Espírito Santo is hosting negotiation sessions across 16 judicial districts to encourage dialogue between taxpayers and the treasury.
