Brazil municipalities intensify dengue control and vaccination campaigns

Municipalities across Brazil are intensifying public health efforts to combat mosquito-borne diseases and respiratory illnesses.

In Campinas, 36 neighborhoods have been placed on high alert due to a high risk of dengue transmission, with over 3,700 confirmed cases reported since the start of the year. Similarly, Cuiabá has moved from high to medium infestation risk, though several northern and southern regions remain critical. In Marília, health agents are conducting breeding site control and educational actions in various districts. Campo Grande is also deploying 'Fumacê' (ultra-low volume spraying) to target adult mosquitoes in specific neighborhoods.

Regarding vaccination, several cities have expanded access to immunizations. Cuiabá has opened influenza vaccination to the general public across 72 health units. In Primavera do Leste and Rondonópolis, influenza vaccines are also available to everyone over six months of age to increase coverage among children, the elderly, and pregnant women. Additionally, Três Lagoas is monitoring Aedes aegypti presence through intensive property inspections and has achieved high vaccination coverage for children and adolescents against dengue.
