Cuiabá reports six days with no UPA medication‑room patients and a 21.5% drop in dengue cases

The municipal health department said that the four Emergency Care Units (UPAs) in Cuiabá – North, East, West and South – have completed six consecutive days without any patients waiting in medication rooms for hospital beds, a record for the city. The achievement is credited to daily monitoring of bed occupancy, coordinated transfers with municipal hospitals such as Hospital São Benedito and Hospital Municipal de Cuiabá, and integrated management by secondary care teams. Health secretary Deisi Bocalon called it a historic moment for the city's emergency network, and secondary‑care deputy Odair Mendonsa highlighted the permanent oversight of beds as a key factor.

In the same reporting period, Cuiabá’s epidemiological bulletin showed a 21.5% reduction in the weekly average of dengue cases compared with the same period last year, with only three new cases recorded in the 28th epidemiological week of 2026. Notifications of chikungunya fell 98.8%, and Zika continued at very low levels. The decline follows intensified vector‑control actions, including inspections of more than 673,000 properties and community campaigns to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
