Cuiabá streets host community screens for World Cup 2026

The Prefeitura de Cuiabá’s “Minha Rua é Show de Bola” campaign wrapped up on 5 May, deploying giant video‑screens in four selected streets for the Brazil‑Norway knockout match that eliminated the national team. The event, part of a series that brought screens to 16 streets across five matches, aimed to revive community gatherings, with Mayor Abílio Brunini noting that “the real winners were the residents” despite the sporting loss.

The fourth‑round voting gave the top spots to Travessa L6 (Jardim Liberdade) with 800 likes, Rua Alta Floresta (CPA II) with 794, Rua Santa Isabel (Santa Isabel) with 724 and Rua U (Primeiro de Março) with 623. The streets will host the screens for the upcoming games. The initiative, backed by Coca‑Cola (500 free cans per site) and local bakery Moreninha (500 popsicles), involved around 40 volunteers who prepared decorations weeks in advance. Since its launch, 84 streets entered the contest, 20 have been equipped, the campaign’s social‑media posts amassed over 6.8 million views and reached more than 308 thousand accounts.
