Cuiabá to get R$ 47 million for asphalt and drainage in three neighborhoods
The Government of Mato Grosso announced an investment of R$ 47.35 million to pave and install drainage systems in the São Francisco, Jardim Passaredo and Lagoa Azul neighborhoods of Cuiabá. Council president Paula Calil praised the funding, saying it fulfills a long‑standing demand and will improve mobility, traffic safety and flood resilience for thousands of families.
Meanwhile, the Cuiabá City Hall’s Contorno Leste project continues to progress. The 17.3‑km avenue will link Avenida Fernando Corrêa to Rodovia Emanuel Pinheiro, serving more than 200 000 residents across 39 neighborhoods. The works include terraplenagem, deep drainage, pavement, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, and a new concrete bridge over the Rio Coxipó. Contractor Nhambiquaras reports about 25 workers and 15 pieces of equipment are on site, emphasizing drainage as essential to preserve the future asphalt.
