Cuiabá urban drainage and paving
Overview
In late July 2026, the municipal government of Cuiabá approved a R$ 16.1 million program to install drainage and pave eight streets in the Jardim Los Angeles neighborhood. The first phase, funded with over R$ 10 million, was slated for nine months, with the full project expected within 180 days, aiming to improve traffic safety, reduce dust and mud, and raise property values.
By early August 2026, the state government of Mato Grosso announced a larger R$ 47.35 million investment to extend asphalt and drainage works to three additional neighborhoods—São Francisco, Jardim Passaredo and Lagoa Azul. At the same time, the Contorno Leste avenue project continued, linking major roads across 39 neighborhoods with extensive drainage, pavement, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, and a new bridge, underscoring a broader effort to enhance mobility and flood resilience throughout Cuiabá.
