Cuisinart expands grill brush recall to 3.6 million units

The recall for Cuisinart-branded metal wire bristle grill brushes has been expanded to include more than 3.6 million products. Originally covering 1.7 million units, the updated recall by Conair now includes an additional 1.9 million items sold through major retailers such as Walmart, Amazon, TJ Maxx, Burlington, and Ross.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warns that metal bristles can loosen and break away from the brush during cleaning, potentially sticking to food. Ingesting these bristles can lead to serious medical emergencies. While no deaths have been reported, officials have received at least 54 reports of detached bristles, including three cases where individuals required medical treatment to remove ingested wires.

The affected products include the Cuisinart Steam Clean Grill Brush and various metal-wire brushes with black plastic, stainless-steel, or wooden handles. These were sold both individually and in tool sets, with several model numbers affected, including CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777.
