Culiacán water service resumes gradually after rainfall-induced plant shutdown

The Culiacán Water and Sewage Board (Japac) has announced that the Juan de Dios Bátiz water treatment plant has resumed normal operations following a period of shutdown. The interruption was caused by heavy rains on September 4, which washed debris into the plant’s intake system, creating high turbidity levels.

Water service is being restored gradually to more than 30 affected neighborhoods. Due to the duration of the shutdown, some high-altitude areas may continue to experience low pressure or a total lack of water in the coming hours. Japac is monitoring the system to accelerate the recovery of water levels and normalize service across the impacted zones.
