Cultural activities in Italy highlight historical resistance and forest wellness

The fifth edition of the 'Trekking della Liberazione' has concluded in the Aniene Valley. Organized by the 'Cammino della Liberazione della Valle dell’Aniene – APS', the event commemorated the Nazi-Fascist massacres of 1943-44 and the civil and partisan Resistance. The organizers noted that the 2026 edition will focus on supporting small valley centers facing depopulation and economic decline by highlighting local agriculture, culture, and community associations.

In a separate reflection on nature, the benefits of forest immersion, known as 'Shinrin-yoku' or forest bathing, are highlighted in the context of the Altopiano forests. Scientific research suggests that inhaling Biogenic Volatile Organic Compounds (BVOCs), such as terpenes released by conifers like spruce and larch, triggers measurable physiological and neurological responses that aid in physical and mental regeneration.
