Cultural and environmental events scheduled for northern Portugal

Mondim de Basto will host a stop of the Space Festival 2026 on November 12. The festival focuses on experimental and improvised music, bringing contemporary artistic proposals to territories outside major urban centers. The event features a mix of Portuguese and international artists, including Susana Santos Silva, Luís Vicente, and the Space Ensemble, blending music with poetry, performance, and artistic research.

Additionally, the Serra d’Arga region will host the second edition of the Jornadas da Montanha on November 20 and 21 in Montaria. Organized by the Viana do Castelo Municipality, this year’s theme, “O Nosso Chão: Pastagens e Pastores,” focuses on extensive grazing and its role in landscape management, rural fire prevention, and ecosystem protection. The event coincides with the United Nations International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and will include discussions on biodiversity, traditional practices, and new technologies.
