Cultural events held in Agios Dimitrios and Athens
Various cultural events are taking place in Greece, ranging from local municipal festivals to major orchestral seasons.
In Agios Dimitrios, the City Festival 2026 featured a three-day program of theater, music, and art. Highlights included the mystery comedy ‘Karamele Ouzo’ by Giannis Galanopoulos, a musical tribute to Efthychia Papagiannopoulou, and a concert by Giota Nega. Additionally, a painting exhibition showcasing works from the municipality’s art workshops was held at the Municipal Stadium.
In Athens, the State Orchestra of Athens is set to launch its 2026-2027 season at the Megaron Concert Hall on October 8. The inaugural concert will honor the Beethoven Year, marking 200 years since the composer's death. Under the direction of Loukas Karytinou, the program will feature violin soloist Alexandra Konunova performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, cellist Hana Kim performing Saint-Saëns, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9.
