Cultural events mark poet Milan Rakić's anniversary and Karlo Ilić's book launch
Cultural commemorations and literary launches are taking place in the region. In Montenegro, an event titled ‘Milan Rakić – between poetry and diplomacy’ was held at the Cyrillic Square to mark the 150th anniversary of the poet's birth. Speakers Jovan Pejčić and Jelena Marićević Balać discussed Rakić's dual legacy as a poet and a diplomat, noting his deep connection to the Serbian people and his use of the Cyrillic script.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the PEN Center is organizing the promotion of ‘Taksim bop’, the debut book by author and musician Karlo Ilić. The event, held at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, explores the intersection of Eastern and Western traditions by blending Middle Eastern musical improvisation with jazz bebop. The work incorporates essays, poetry, and mythology, connecting diverse cultural elements such as New Orleans and Istanbul.
