Cultural events scheduled in Helsinki and Porvoo

Various cultural and community events are scheduled across Finland, including a major circus performance in Helsinki and a series of activities in the Porvoo region.

In Helsinki, Circus & Dance Finland is hosting a free contemporary circus event at the Central Railway Station on September 9. The program includes indoor performances by the TipTop Walkers and the duo Ira & Jere, culminating in an aerial acrobatics display by Sorin Sirkus and Heidi Miikki on the 50-meter-high clock tower. The event is part of the ‘Sirkus tulee’ campaign aimed at increasing the visibility of contemporary circus in Finland.

The Porvoo region features a diverse schedule from September 7 to 13. Highlights include Circus Finland’s 50th-anniversary tour at Suisto Field, stand-up comedy at Paahtimo, and a lecture by researchers Ville Lähde and Tere Vadén regarding environmental crises at the Porvoo main library. Other activities include a lecture on European storytelling traditions at Villa Albert, heart health discussions, and a jazz trio performance at the Porvoo Art Hall.
