Cultural events and festivals in Finland

Cultural activities and festivals are being held across various Finnish cities, including Helsinki, Kouvola, and the Porvoo region.

In mid-August, the Night of the Arts festival took place in Helsinki and Kouvola. Helsinki hosted over 300 activities, such as street performances by the French theater group Compagnie Off and film showcases at Teurastamo. In Kouvola, the festival drew thousands to the city center, supported by municipal and foundation grants, prompting local calls for increased business participation to further revitalize the area.

By early September, programming shifted toward circus and community-focused events. Helsinki scheduled a free contemporary circus performance at the Central Railway Station as part of the ‘Sirkus tulee’ campaign, featuring aerial acrobatics on the station clock tower. Meanwhile, the Porvoo region hosted a diverse schedule including Circus Finland’s 50th-anniversary tour, stand-up comedy, jazz performances, and various lectures on environmental and storytelling topics.
