Cultural events scheduled in Nijkerk and Heerhugowaard

Two literary and historical events are scheduled to take place in the Netherlands in November 2026.

In Nijkerk, author Elle van Rijn will host a Meet & Greet at the Nijkerk Library on November 10. Van Rijn, known for the international bestseller ‘De crèche’, will discuss her new historical novel, ‘Gestolen geluk’. The event, organized in collaboration with Boekhandel Roodbeen, will offer insights into her writing process and the historical inspirations behind her work.

In Heerhugowaard, author Eva Vriend will present a lecture titled ‘Oude zee, nieuw land’ at the Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier (HHNK) on November 19. Drawing from her books regarding the Zuiderzee Project, Vriend will discuss the history of polder development and its relevance to contemporary issues such as nitrogen problems, biodiversity loss, and the climate crisis. The lecture aims to explore lessons from historical land management for modern water management and society.
