Cultural events scheduled in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro will host several cultural productions throughout late 2024. The contemporary dance piece “Dança Boba,” directed by Daniel Calvet and performed by the Ateliê do Gesto company, is touring several Sesc units in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The performances, which utilize improvisation and live lighting manipulation, are scheduled between October 29 and November 7 in locations including Barra Mansa, Petrópolis, São João de Meriti, São Gonçalo, Ramos, and Nova Friburgo.

Additionally, the sixth edition of the Sinédoque National Short Documentary Festival will take place from November 4 to November 8 at Estação Claro Rio in Botafogo. The festival features 23 free screenings of Brazilian short films across various thematic sessions, such as “World Order,” “Women in Profile,” and “Street Culture.” The event includes public debates, masterclasses, and an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding productions.
