Cultural events scheduled in Rio de Janeiro and Cuiabá
Rio de Janeiro will host the 9th Encontro Nacional de Bambas from November 1 to 7, 2026. This free event dedicated to capoeira aims to gather approximately 500 participants and various masters from across Brazil. The program, themed “Berimbau Chamou: De Pindorama ao Brasil Tudo Misturou,” focuses on the indigenous, African, and Afro-Brazilian contributions to national culture through workshops, musical contests, debates on anti-racism, and a berimbau procession through the city center.
In Cuiabá, Sesc Arsenal is organizing the Sesc Raízes project, offering free cultural walking tours of the Bairro do Porto throughout November. Led by the Atlas Cuiabano, the tours will explore the historical and cultural transformations of the region. Scheduled dates include November 7 to discuss the district's development, November 14 to examine the relationship between the urban space and the Cuiabá River, and November 28 to highlight local traditions and daily life.
