Sesc and Senac 80th anniversary celebrations in Brazil
Overview
Sesc continues its 80th-anniversary celebrations in Brazil through diverse regional social, cultural, and educational initiatives. Recent activities include a Picasso retrospective in Espírito Santo and the “Você Já Escutou a Terra?” exhibition in Guarapari. In Goiânia, the 40th Copa Sesc features a lecture series with sports icons Cafu and César Cielo.
Educational and children's programming remains a focus. Sesc Birigui is hosting a Children's Week featuring the puppet show ‘Cocô de Passarinho’, musical performances like ‘Quando o Choro Vira Brincadeira’, and the environmental show ‘Planeta Oca’. In São Paulo, Sesc Santo André is hosting workshops involving dance, jazz, and ancestral themes, while Sesc São Caetano offers free art workshops for children and programs focused on literature, Ubuntu philosophy, and African ancestral aesthetics.
Cultural programming has expanded significantly. The Palco Giratório Festival is touring various regions, including Maranhão and Cuiabá. In Presidente Prudente, actor Cacá Carvalho will participate in a discussion on the relationship between performers and audiences. In Rio de Janeiro, the 9th Encontro Nacional de Bambas will host capoeira workshops and debates on anti-racism, while Cuiabá’s Sesc Arsenal is organizing the Sesc Raízes project, offering historical walking tours of Bairro do Porto.
Social, health, and sporting initiatives continue to be a priority. Sesc is organizing the ‘Sons do Comércio’ music festival in Rio Grande do Norte and has launched the 2027 Natal stage of the Sesc Running Circuit. In Ceará, the Integrated Assistance Meeting will address longevity and community care networks. Additionally, Sesc continues to provide mobile health units and is expanding social tourism in Mato Grosso do Sul.
