Târgu Jiu hosts international events celebrating Constantin Brâncuși
Târgu Jiu is hosting a series of international cultural events to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Constantin Brâncuși. Central to these celebrations is the ‘Philosophy of Form’ international conference, held under the patronage of UNESCO. The event brings together global specialists to explore Brâncuși’s artistic legacy and includes participation from experts in France, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Moldova.
A major highlight is the premiere of the exhibition ‘Brâncuși. Photography. The Invisible Studio’ at Pavilion Art 360. This exhibition features 33 rare photographs from the David Grob collection, providing a unique visual record of the artist’s studio, works, and self-portraits. British collector David Grob is expected to attend the opening.
Complementing these academic and formal events, local initiatives such as the ‘Brâncuși Heritage from Târgu Jiu’ campaign are engaging the community to rediscover the sculptor’s monumental works, including the Endless Column and the Gate of the Kiss, through personal stories and shared memories.
