Cultural exhibitions opening in Turkey featuring Nâzım Hikmet and Hera Büyüktaşcıyan

Major cultural exhibitions are opening in Turkey, highlighting significant works of art and literature. At Arter, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan’s exhibition ‘Ghost Quartet’, curated by Nilüfer Şaşmazer, explores themes of loss, memory, and invisibility through the lens of personal and urban history. The exhibition is divided into four sections—Nekropol, Avlu, Cadde, and Bakış—drawing parallels to the four underworld rivers of mythology.

In İzmir, the 95th İzmir International Fair will host ‘ROMANTİKA / Bir Ömrün Seyrüseferi’, the most comprehensive exhibition of Nâzım Hikmet’s life in Turkey to date. Produced by Folkart in collaboration with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, the exhibition spans 2,125 square meters across 15 halls. It features hundreds of documents, manuscripts, personal belongings, and audiovisual recordings sourced from various international and domestic archives, including the Russian State Literary and Art Archive and the Ara Güler Archive. The exhibition emphasizes Hikmet’s connection to İzmir, a city central to his autobiographical narratives.
