Cultural festivals celebrate Day of the Dead through art and tradition

Various cultural events are scheduled to observe traditions surrounding death and memory through art and community engagement.

In Ulldecona, the PARCA Festival will return to the Ermita de la Pietat on October 30 and 31. The event features sound performances, the presentation of the PARCA magazine, and the ‘Mercat de l’Eternitat’, which includes workshops, exhibitions, and guided tours designed to explore themes of loss and memory.

In Tlalpan, Mexico, the ‘Celebración de Vida y Muerte Tlalpan 2026’ will feature local artists and artisans across 11 towns. The program includes immersive cultural experiences and a large-scale installation representing the nine levels of Mictlán, the Mexica underworld, to educate visitors on pre-Hispanic symbolism through dance, music, and visual arts.
