Cultural heritage highlighted through murals and conferences in Italy

In Crotone, Italy, a series of murals located near the Villa Comunale depicts prominent figures from the city's ancient history. The artworks feature Milone of Croton, the athlete; Philolaus, the Pythagorean philosopher and mathematician; and Alcmaeon of Croton, the philosopher and physician. Funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU through the PNRR, the ‘Move Up’ project aims to combat educational poverty and integrate historical memory into the urban landscape.

In San Miniato, the Fondazione Dramma Popolare hosted a two-day conference titled ‘San Francesco in spectacular narration: theatre, music, new media.’ The event brought together scholars and artists to explore the contemporary relevance of Saint Francis through various artistic lenses. The conference also marked the inauguration of a new museum managed by Nuovi Orizzonti, which centers on a mural of the Canticle of the Creatures and works by artists such as Pietro Marchesi, Dilvo Lotti, and Giulio Greco.
