Cultural heritage initiatives focus on conservation and digital management in Brazil

Cultural institutions in Brazil are advancing initiatives related to the conservation and digital management of heritage assets.

The Museu do Ipiranga will host a symposium on October 14, 2026, titled ‘Acervos Digitais: Gestão, Preservação e Difusão’. The event focuses on the challenges of digital repositories, the preservation of born-digital collections, and platforms for public access. This symposium coincides with the expansion of the Museu Paulista’s digital infrastructure through the creation of the Center for Digitization and Intelligent Treatment of Collections (CDTIC), a project funded by FAPESP.

Additionally, the ABGC is offering an extension module focused on innovation in the conservation and restoration of cultural goods. This hybrid program includes webinars, online classes, and a study tour at the Atelier Raul Carvalho, covering topics such as the ethics of conservation science and the management of contaminated collections.
