Cultural initiatives launch in Helsingør and Bornholm
In Helsingør, the campaign to become a European Capital of Culture in 2032 has gained regional support. Aslak Gottlieb, chairman of the Helsingør 2032 association, highlighted a recent roundtable discussion in Helsingborg involving Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian participants. The initiative aims to foster cross-border cooperation in culture and education, potentially benefiting the wider region including Malmö, Copenhagen, and Halmstad. A decision on whether Helsingør and Aalborg will proceed in the candidacy process is expected on November 12.
On the island of Bornholm, a new initiative called ‘Vores UngØ’ is working to increase youth influence within the local cultural sector. A dialogue meeting was held to bring young people together with politicians and cultural decision-makers. The initiative, a collaboration between Musikhuset, 7,5 hektar, and KlangFest, seeks to create more opportunities for youth to implement their own ideas and participate in local cultural life.
