Danish European Capital of Culture 2032 bids
Overview
Aalborg Municipality has officially submitted its application to become a European Capital of Culture in 2032. The bid, which follows 500 days of preparation and includes input from over 3,000 citizens, features 116 project suggestions designed to foster community and international cooperation. An international expert jury is scheduled to review the application in November to determine which Danish cities advance in the selection process.
Simultaneously, Helsingør has launched a campaign for the same title, seeking regional support through cross-border cooperation with participants from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. This initiative aims to involve cities such as Malmö, Copenhagen, and Halmstad in cultural and educational efforts. A decision regarding the candidacy of both Helsingør and Aalborg is expected on November 12.
