Cultural lectures scheduled in Mexico and Argentina

In Mexico, researcher Antonio Ruiz Caballero will present a lecture titled ‘Cantos y sonoridades de la larga Cuaresma en Ostula, Michoacán’ at the Museo Universitario de Artes Populares ‘María Teresa Pomar’ on October 9. The talk focuses on the musical expressions of the Nahua community in Santa María Ostula during the Lenten cycle, which runs from Ash Wednesday to Corpus Christi. The presentation will cover the relationship between Latin and Spanish chants, instrumental music such as minuets, and the use of the teponaztli, a pre-Hispanic percussion instrument used specifically during Corpus Christi celebrations.

In Argentina, writer and historian Eduardo Sacheri will present his book ‘Los días de la Constitución’ at the Colegio de Abogados de Morón on October 8. The work examines a decisive period in Argentine history from 1852 to 1880, beginning with the fall of Juan Manuel de Rosas and continuing through the enactment of the 1853 National Constitution and the subsequent consolidation of the state. This book is part of a three-volume project covering national history from 1806 to 1916.
