Cultural productions see interest in Romanian theaters
The Toma Caragiu Theater in Ploiești has announced that tickets for the premiere of “Tenor de împrumut” (Borrowed Tenor) are already sold out. The production, written by American dramaturg Ken Ludwig and directed by Dan Tudor, is scheduled for its first performance on October 31.
In another cultural development, Teatrul Masca will host the Romanian premiere of “Pasagerul clandestin” (The Stowaway) by Maria Lazar on October 31 and November 1, 2026. The play, directed by Catinca Drăgănescu, marks the first staging in Romania of a text rediscovered after more than eight decades. Written by the Austrian-Jewish playwright during her exile in Denmark in 1938-1939, the story explores themes of refugees, borders, and moral responsibility.
