Cupra, BYD and Jeep win Ecomotion vehicle efficiency test in Spain

The Ecomotion by Ayvens Research Lab 2026 competition, organized by Ayvens Spain, evaluated the real‑world efficiency of 28 electrified vehicles from 23 brands over a 300‑kilometre route between the Community of Madrid and Castilla‑y‑León. The Cupra Tavascan VZ secured the electric‑vehicle (BEV) category, achieving a 23.7 % reduction compared with its WLTP‑based consumption. The BYD Atto 2 DM‑i Boost claimed victory in the plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) class, completing the test with a combined use of 17.4 kWh electricity and 6.89 litres of fuel. The Jeep Compass Altitude won the hybrid (HEV/MHEV) segment, cutting its WLTP‑derived consumption by 24.49 %. Teams were required to optimise energy use while respecting traffic rules and time limits. The data gathered will be analysed for an upcoming study on energy efficiency and driving‑style impact in real conditions.
