Cupra to produce Tindaya SUV and launch ABT custom kits for León, Formentor
Cupra confirmed that its Tindaya concept, unveiled at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, will move into production. CEO Markus Haupt said the model will be built on the Volkswagen Group's new SSP platform and will become the brand's largest vehicle at 4.72 m, targeting the premium SUV segment dominated by BMW, Mercedes and Audi. Mechanical details are still undecided; the concept featured a hybrid powertrain with a 1.5‑litre TSI engine acting as a generator for the electric motors, delivering 496 hp, a 300 km electric‑only range and up to 1,000 km combined. Pricing and exact launch date were not disclosed.
In addition, Cupra introduced a new personalization program, Custom CUPRA by ABT, developed with ABT Sportsline. Presented at the CUPRA Performance Days at Austria's Red Bull Ring, the kit offers exclusive aerodynamic and design elements – front splitter, side skirts, rear wing, diffuser, 19‑inch alloy wheels and dark‑chrome badging – for the CUPRA León (including the Sportstourer) and the Formentor coupé‑SUV. The components are hand‑assembled at the CUPRA Racing Factory and will be available from July 2026, with pricing to be announced later.
