Curitiba announces R$ 80 million Orleans Viaduct project

The Government of Paraná and the City of Curitiba have presented the project for the new Orleans Viaduct, located over the BR-277 highway. The project aims to resolve a long-standing traffic bottleneck and improve connectivity between the Orleans, Santa Felicidade, and Campo Comprido neighborhoods.

The total investment is approximately R$ 80 million. Ecorodovias, through a judicial agreement with the State of Paraná, will fund R$ 45.2 million for the construction of a second viaduct parallel to the existing 1970s structure. The City of Curitiba will invest R$ 40 million via its PRO Curitiba program for complementary infrastructure, including the creation of a binary road system and necessary expropriations.

Construction is expected to begin within 90 days. Because the funding and execution are managed by Ecorodovias as part of a legal settlement, the process bypasses the need for a new bidding process, which is expected to accelerate the start of works. The municipal bidding process for the complementary works is expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
