Curitiba Orleans Viaduct infrastructure project
Overview
The Government of Paraná and the City of Curitiba have announced a project for the new Orleans Viaduct over the BR-277 highway. The initiative aims to address a long-standing traffic bottleneck and improve connectivity between the Orleans, Santa Felicidade, and Campo Comprido neighborhoods.
The project involves a total investment of approximately R$ 80 million. Ecorodovias will fund R$ 45.2 million to construct a second viaduct parallel to the existing 1970s structure as part of a judicial agreement with the State of Paraná. The City of Curitiba will contribute R$ 40 million through its PRO Curitiba program for complementary infrastructure, including expropriations and the creation of a binary road system.
Construction is expected to begin within 90 days. The funding and execution by Ecorodovias via a legal settlement is expected to accelerate the start of works by bypassing the need for a new bidding process, while the municipal bidding process for complementary works is slated to launch in the coming weeks.
