Curitiba City Council Seat Vacated After Gender‑Quota Fraud Ruling
The Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE‑PR) voted 4‑3 to cancel the PMB party list for allegedly using "orange women" candidates to meet the gender‑quota requirement. The ruling nullified the votes of councilor‑candidate Bruno Secco, who had received 11,436 votes, removing him from the Curitiba City Council.
If the party's appeal fails, the vacant seat will be assigned to PT member Matteus Henrique, giving the party its fourth council seat. Judge Tatiane de Cassia Viese said the party altered a female candidate’s number without notifying her, directing campaign material to a male candidate. Secco said he received the decision with "profunda indignação" and will appeal, noting the impact on thousands of voters.
