Curitiba inaugurates new 60-bed SUS hospital

A new hospital, the Unidade Hospitalar Monsenhor Mário Sérgio Bittencourt de Carvalho, has opened in central Curitiba, Brazil. The facility features 60 beds dedicated exclusively to patients using the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS).

Managed by the Irmandade Santa Casa de Curitiba, the hospital is located on Rua Conselheiro Laurindo in the city center. It is designed to handle emergency cases according to the criteria established by the Urgency Network. The annual investment for the unit's operation is projected at R$ 50 million, with funds provided by the federal government to the Santa Casa through an existing contract with the Municipal Health Secretariat.

The unit occupies the building previously used by the Mater Dei Maternity Hospital. With this addition, the capital of Paraná now has a total of 3,264 SUS beds.
