Curitiba launches free veterinary telemedicine service
Mayor Eduardo Pimentel of Curitiba inaugurated a free telemedicine program at the Municipal Veterinary Hospital São Francisco de Assis in the Taboão neighborhood. The service offers online follow‑up appointments for dogs and cats using Google Meet, with about 15 consultations per day and an estimated 200 per month, aimed at reducing in‑person queues and freeing capacity for emergencies.
The initiative, funded with R$ 445,000 from a city council amendment, is part of a broader municipal effort that includes the construction of a second free veterinary hospital in the Pinheirinho area and the planting of the 250,000th tree under the city’s “Half‑Million Trees” program.
