Curitiba launches major road and pavement upgrades in city center and Pinheirinho

The municipal government of Curitiba has begun two large‑scale infrastructure projects. In the Pinheirinho region, 2.3 km of worn‑out pavement on Francisco de Camargo Pinto and Alberto Kramer streets are being replaced using a recycling process that re‑uses the removed material, part of the PRO Curitiba investment program. Residents reported long‑standing pothole problems and welcomed the more durable, environmentally‑friendly resurfacing.

Separately, a revitalisation of almost 4 km of Avenida Visconde de Guarapuava in the city centre is being prepared. The plan, slated to last about two and a half years, includes underground relocation of electricity and telecom cables, the construction of a new bike lane, and upgrades to sidewalks for universal accessibility. The city has opened a R$ 1 million tender for firms to submit detailed implementation proposals, with a deadline of 9 September.

Both projects aim to improve traffic flow, reduce maintenance costs and enhance urban sustainability for Curitiba’s residents.
