Curry Barker releases new horror short Mama Bear on YouTube

Director Curry Barker, known for the global box office success of the horror film Obsession, has released a new five-minute psychological horror short titled Mama Bear. The film premiered on the YouTube channel That’s a Bad Idea, a project co-run by Barker and Cooper Tomlinson.

The story follows a character named Floyd, played by Jon Lee Richardson, who experiences a series of disturbing phone calls and encounters a doppelgänger. The production reunited several creative members from Barker’s previous work, including production designer Vivian Gray and costume designer Blair James.

Barker, who built his initial following through YouTube horror content, is currently preparing for his next feature film, Anything But Ghosts, which is scheduled for release in May 2027. The new short was produced in collaboration with Microsoft Windows, which sponsored the project.
