Cusco launches Regional Education Observatory and Digital Platform
The Cusco regional government has inaugurated the Observatorio Regional de Educación and the Pladec digital platform, a system designed to turn education data into actionable decisions. The platform will integrate information from schools, local education management units (UGEL), and the regional education directorate, using intelligent analytics to generate early warnings, identify risks, and prioritize interventions.
Key indicators monitored include school dropout rates, infrastructure conditions, internet connectivity, hygiene facilities, psychological support, school climate, and child anemia. The system will also feature a Regional Education Risk Index and a Multi‑Risk Alert Center to respond to climate, health, or social emergencies. Governor Werner Salcedo emphasized that the initiative aims to build “a government that makes evidence‑based decisions, acts before problems worsen, and puts children, adolescents and teachers at the centre of public policy.”
