Customs authorities in Liberia and Ghana launch trade capacity training

Customs authorities in Liberia and Ghana have launched training initiatives aimed at improving trade facilitation and revenue mobilization through enhanced technical expertise.

In Liberia, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has commenced the second phase of a weeklong refresher training in Ganta, Nimba County. The program focuses on strengthening the capacity of Customs officers in areas such as Customs valuation, Harmonized System (HS) tariff classification, and rules of origin. This training is intended to improve operational efficiency and support Liberia’s participation in regional trade arrangements like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Similarly, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has introduced the 2026 Customs House Agent Proficiency Training Programme. This initiative targets clearing agents and logistics stakeholders to deepen their understanding of customs procedures, ethics, and modern border management. The program aims to reduce errors in declarations and support Ghana’s revenue targets by fostering professionalism and collaboration between agents and customs officials.
