Customs officials seize 190,000 euros at Tabanovce border
Customs officials at the Tabanovce border crossing prevented a Hungarian citizen from illegally importing 200,000 euros in undeclared foreign currency into North Macedonia.
During a detailed inspection by a mobile control team, officers discovered the funds hidden in three separate locations within the vehicle. The money was found in a bag near the gear shifter (65,000 euros), a backpack on the rear seat covered by a computer (37,650 euros), and a suitcase containing 97,350 euros.
Following the Law on Foreign Exchange Operations, 10,000 euros were returned to the traveler, while the remaining 190,000 euros were seized. A misdemeanor report has been filed against the individual.
