North Macedonia customs currency seizure
Overview
Customs officials at the Tabanovce border crossing in North Macedonia seized 190,000 euros from a Hungarian citizen attempting to illegally import undeclared foreign currency.
During an inspection by a mobile control team, the funds were discovered hidden in three locations within a vehicle: near the gear shifter, in a backpack on the rear seat, and inside a suitcase. Following the Law on Foreign Exchange Operations, 10,000 euros were returned to the traveler, while the remaining amount was seized and a misdemeanor report was filed.
