Customs officials seize 83,000 undeclared tablets at Bajakovo border
Croatian customs officers and police discovered 83,600 undeclared tablets hidden in a truck with Serbian registration at the Bajakovo border crossing. The vehicle was officially transporting a shipment of medicines from Serbia to Ireland.
During an inspection using X-ray equipment, officials noticed signs that the customs seal had been tampered with. A detailed search revealed three hidden cardboard boxes containing 44,600 Bensedin tablets (10 mg), which contain diazepam and are classified as controlled drugs. An additional 39,000 undeclared tablets and 30 liters of undeclared domestic brandy were also seized.
Following a search warrant from the Vukovar County Court, criminal police took over the investigation. The Serbian driver faces potential charges for the unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs. Additionally, the driver was issued fines totaling 17,910 euros for customs and excise violations, including failure to declare goods and damaging the customs seal.
