Senegal police seize 245 kg of Indian hemp on Guéréo beach

During the night of 9–10 July 2026, police units from the Mbour anti‑drug unit, part of the regional Brigade of Stimulants (BRS) of Thiès and the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRITS), intercepted a shipment of Indian hemp on Guéréo beach in the Mbour department. The operation, launched after intelligence indicated coastal drug trafficking, saw the convoy abandon the cargo and flee when officers arrived at approximately 03:45 h. Officers secured ten parcels totaling 244.8 kg of Indian hemp, which were sealed for investigation. The seizure underscores the authorities’ ongoing effort to disrupt drug networks, and investigations continue to identify and apprehend those involved.
